LAHORE (AM Khan): Australia fast bowler Xavier Bartlett has lauded Pakistan’s all-round performance, admitting that the hosts thoroughly outclassed his side in both batting and bowling during the recently concluded T20I series.
Speaking at a post-match press conference, Bartlett acknowledged that Pakistan seized control of the contest early, particularly during the powerplay. “The aggressive way Pakistan played in the powerplay took the game away from us,” he said, adding that the hosts managed to maintain momentum throughout the match, leaving Australia with little opportunity to stage a comeback.
Bartlett noted that while Australia’s spinners produced encouraging spells, the conditions posed a significant challenge for the visitors. “These conditions were new and difficult for us,” he admitted. “Pakistan’s spinners, especially Shadab Khan, bowled exceptionally well and used the conditions far better than we did.”
Reflecting on the broader picture, Bartlett said the series had provided valuable learning opportunities for Australia as they build towards the next ICC World Cup. He explained that the team had anticipated spin-friendly surfaces in Pakistan, given the stark contrast between conditions in Australia and the subcontinent but conceded that adapting effectively remained a work in progress.
When asked about the on-field signals following Cameron Green’s dismissal, Bartlett said he was unaware of any such incident and chose not to comment further. Concluding his remarks, Bartlett gave full credit to Pakistan for their comprehensive display. “Pakistan played outstanding cricket and fully deserved the victory,” he said, acknowledging the hosts’ superiority across all departments.
