LAHORE (AM Khan): Pakistan batter Usman Khan has expressed satisfaction over the national team’s recent performances and reiterated his determination to play his role in helping Pakistan win the third T20I as well.
Speaking to the media after the match, Usman stressed that his primary focus remains on fulfilling the role assigned to him by the team management. “I am happy with the team’s overall performance and we will try our best to win the third T20I as well,” he said. “I always try to play according to the role given to me by the team management. For every player, the team’s requirement comes first, and I step onto the field with the same mindset.”
He emphasised that adaptability is key in modern cricket. “Whatever role the management assigns me, I try to deliver my best accordingly. The aim is always to perform better than before and contribute to the team’s success,” he added.
Addressing criticism, Usman said it was an inevitable part of professional sport. “Criticism is part of cricket and no one can stop it. The important thing is to focus on the positives and keep improving,” he remarked, while also urging critics to be mindful that players have families who are affected by such remarks.
Usman also praised national team spinner Abrar Ahmed, describing him as a high-quality bowler. “Abrar has great variety and is not easy to play. He is a quality spinner and can challenge any batting line-up,” he said. On questions regarding his batting position, Usman clarified that it is determined by team strategy. “Wherever I am sent to bat depends on the team’s planning and needs. My effort is to perform to the best of my ability at any position,” he explained.
Responding to a query about Usman Tariq, he said the bowler was talented but matters related to bowling action fall under the umpires’ jurisdiction. Concluding, Usman expressed hope that Pakistan would continue to improve in the upcoming matches and provide fans with quality cricket to enjoy.
