بھارت کو بڑا دھچکا، آسٹریلیا کے خلاف اہم کھلاڑی میچ سے باہر

Report: Muhammad Zeeshan

India’s experienced fast bowler Mohammad Shami has been ruled out of the fourth and fifth Tests of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia due to fitness concerns.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed in a recent press release that swelling in Shami’s left knee has rendered him unavailable for the remainder of the series. The decision was made to prioritize his recovery and ensure better performances in the future.

According to the BCCI, Shami bowled 43 overs for Bengal during the Ranji Trophy against Madhya Pradesh in November and played all nine matches of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Additionally, he participated in extra bowling sessions to prepare for the Test series. However, his sustained workload led to swelling in his left knee, which initially seemed minor but later required greater medical attention.

After the Brisbane Test, Indian captain Rohit Sharma sought clarification regarding Shami’s availability. Following a thorough medical assessment, the BCCI’s medical team decided to rule Shami out for the remainder of the series, emphasizing that he needs adequate rest to ensure a complete recovery and readiness for future commitments.

The press release highlighted that Shami had shown great energy and effort during his Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy spells but admitted that his heavy workload caused significant stress on his knee. Considering this, the BCCI medical team recommended proper rest to facilitate Shami’s recovery and prepare him for upcoming matches.

This development is a major blow for Team India, as Shami’s experience and skills were deemed critical in countering Australia’s batting lineup. The team management and physiotherapists are dedicated to ensuring his swift recovery, aiming for his prompt return to competitive cricket.
