LAHORE (Abdul Basit): The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Tuesday officially announced the schedule for Australia’s three-match T20 International series in Pakistan, with all matches set to be staged at the iconic Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, later this month.
According to the PCB, the T20I series will be played on January 29, January 31 and February 1, marking another major international assignment hosted by Pakistan as it continues to re-establish itself as a regular destination for top-tier cricket. The Australian T20I squad is scheduled to arrive in Lahore on Wednesday, January 28. For all three fixtures, the toss will take place at 5:30 pm (PKT), while the first ball will be bowled at 6:00 pm (PKT) under lights.
The series holds significant importance for both teams as they fine-tune their combinations and strategies ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. Pakistan have been placed in Group A, while Australia will compete in Group B, making the series a vital opportunity for preparation against high-quality opposition.
This tour will be Australia’s third visit to Pakistan since March–April 2022, when they returned to the country after a long hiatus to play a historic Test series, followed by ODIs and a one-off T20I. The Australian side also featured in three matches of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 held in Pakistan, further strengthening cricketing ties between the two nations. Australia currently hold fond memories of their only T20I appearance at the Gaddafi Stadium, having secured a thrilling three-wicket victory against Pakistan on April 5, 2022.
Welcoming the visitors, PCB Chief Operating Officer Sumair Ahmed Syed expressed optimism about the series and its significance for fans and players alike. “We are excited and look forward to hosting Australia for the three-match T20I series here in Lahore. The tour marks a blockbuster beginning of the year for Pakistan cricket fans,” said Sumair. “I urge supporters to turn out in large numbers and enjoy high-quality cricket as both teams put the final touches to their preparations for the T20 World Cup.”
He added that the Gaddafi Stadium has become a familiar venue for the Australian side. “The Australian team has played a Test, five ODIs and a T20I here since March 2022, and Lahore continues to prove itself as a world-class host city.”
