HARARE (SNP Report): Pakistan produced a composed all-round performance to defeat co-host Zimbabwe by eight wickets in their final Group C fixture of the ICC Men’s Under-19 World Cup 2026 at the Takashinga Sports Club on Thursday.
The victory, powered by a disciplined bowling display and an unbeaten half-century from opener Sameer Minhas, ensured Pakistan progressed to the Super Six stage alongside group leaders England. Zimbabwe also advanced despite the defeat, edging out Scotland on net run rate, while Scotland were eliminated from the tournament.
Chasing a modest target of 129, Pakistan reached the mark in 26.2 overs, losing two wickets. Minhas anchored the innings with a polished unbeaten 74 off 75 balls, striking six fours and three sixes. He found support from Usman Khan, who contributed 26, and Ahmed Hussain, who remained unbeaten on a steady 24.
Earlier, Pakistan captain Farhan Yousaf’s decision to bowl first paid rich dividends as Zimbabwe were dismissed for 128 in 35.5 overs. Opener Nathaniel Hlabangana fought a lone battle with a resilient 59 off 85 balls, including seven boundaries, but received little support, with Brandon Senzere’s 15 the only other double-figure score.
Ali Raza spearheaded Pakistan’s bowling attack with impressive figures of 3 for 16, while Mohammad Sayyam, Momin Qamar and Abdul Subhan claimed two wickets each. Ahmed Hussain chipped in with one to complete a comprehensive team effort.
