LAHORE (Abdul Basit): Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi on Tuesday showered praise on the national men’s U19 team following their dominant triumph at the U19 tri-series in Zimbabwe.
The Green Shirts, who finished at the top of the standings, completely outclassed hosts Chevrons in the summit clash by nine wickets. Pakistan remained unbeaten throughout the series to clinch the silverware, which followed the ACC Men’s U19 Asia Cup 2025 title. The back-to-back achievements made Pakistan a strong contender for the ICC Men’s U19 World Cup 2026, scheduled to be co-hosted by Zimbabwe and Namibia from January 15 to February 6.
Reflecting on the junior men’s team’s dominant performances ahead of the mega event, PCB Chairman Naqvi expressed delight, applauding them for making the nation proud. He specifically praised in-form opener Sameer Minhas and captain Farhan Yousaf before backing the team for the World Cup glory.
“Heartfelt congratulations to our Pakistan U19 team on winning the tri-series in Zimbabwe! You’ve made the nation so proud with your passion and skill,” Naqvi wrote on X, formerly Twitter. “Special shoutout to the brilliant Sameer Minhas for his inspirational batting! Well done to captain Farhan Yousaf, players, and staff. Keep shining, Shaheens, onwards to the U19 World Cup!”
